Melissa has spent many years around sports, but most of the time as a spectator. Growing up, she watched her two younger brothers play many, many baseball and basketball games. In high school, Melissa had her first opportunity as a training instructor when she taught gymnastics at the Kinston Parks & Recreation Department. Her interest in sports carried over into her college years, when she worked with the baseball teams at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and East Carolina.
In 2003, Melissa was introduced to the functional fitness and strength training. She was hooked after the first week of training. So interested in this style of training that she and her husband, Jason opened their own fitness facility in December 2004. Melissa has been training and coaching ever since. Over the years, Melissa has enjoyed teaching others and watching them improve their fitness, their health and their lives. Forged Fitness is a very rewarding experience for members and for coaches.

Early in life Angela knew she would somehow be involved in sport and fitness for the rest of her life. When she came home from the playground competing in elementary school Field Day with a handful of medals around her neck, she was hooked. Since that time, she hasn’t looked back. In high school, she participated in basketball, volleyball, softball, and track. After college, where intramural sports kept her active and she received her degree in Physical Education, she coached high school and college basketball for 12 years. Angela also played semi-professional women’s tackle football as part of the national Independent Women’s Football League. All of these experiences led to her current passion of coaching others to improve their fitness level and ultimately their quality of life.
Angela has been part of the Forged Fitness family since the spring of 2007, first learning from the wealth of knowledge that the trainers provided which led to her improved fitness level and understanding, then deciding that she wanted to share that knowledge with others and become a trainer herself. Being a coach at Forged Fitness has provided Angela with an opportunity to teach others and watch their personal growth to reach their fitness and wellness goals.
Currently, when Angela’s not at Forged Fitness, she participates in extracurricular activities such as flag football and softball. She also trains as a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and has brought home numerous BJJ tournament medals and trophies. She enjoys other activities such as snowboarding and water sports, and is eager to make use of her recently earned open water scuba diving certificate.

Caroline has always been around sports and fitness in her life. Growing up and throughout high school, Caroline danced competitively, played softball, volleyball, soccer and was a cheerleader. While attending NC State University, she found rugby and played for many select side teams, including the U-23 National 7’s Rugby Team. After college, Caroline played for the local team, the Raleigh Venom, and won a National Championship with them. Throughout rugby, she sustained many injuries but kept coming back to rugby for more. Finally, after having major knee surgery and enduring numerous months of rehabilitation without making any progress, Caroline found Forged Fitness in 2007. Caroline feels that without Forged Fitness, she would not have been able to get back on the rugby pitch again.
Caroline still loves competition, and you will find her competing in either a rugby match or fitness competitions. In 2009, Caroline qualified for the CrossFit Games by placing 3rd in the Midwest Region. Caroline enjoys the competitive nature and team atmosphere at Forged Fitness. She thrives on helping athletes obtain their goals and making them realize that they can do so much more than they ever thought.
